Art III (6-8)

This first trimester students will learn about African and Oceanic art and artists. Students will work with a wide range of media to create original designs based on studied art. There may be some light homework. All artwork will remain in class until the last class when students can take their portfolios home. Students will need to wear old clothing or an apron as some supplies will not wash out of clothing. All art materials will be supplied; there is a $5.00 material fee.

Description

Art: 6-8 / Period 6 / AB / 1T-2T-3T

This course takes students from drawing to sculpture and everything in between. Students explore interactions of 2D and 3D design, experiment with simple mold making techniques, and use mono prints, construction, drawing, and painting to create unique multi media works. This class focuses on the principles of composition (balance, shape, color, rhythm) and the process of design in the creation of work.
