Botany (6-8)
Exploring Creation with Botany will introduce the student to Botany, taxonomy and the scientific method. We will start 1st Trimester with discussions of the classification of plants, seeds and flowers. We will also have an emphasis on Nature Journaling. In the 2nd Trimester we will look at pollination, seed dispersal, fruits and leaves. Third Trimester finishes with exploration of roots, stems and trees. There will be about two hours of homework per week, to include reading from the text and other sources, answering questions from the text, and analysis of laboratory work done in the classroom. Grades will be based on lab work, homework assignments and chapter tests. Journaling is expected, but not graded. Students will need a 3-ring binder for handouts and lab work.
