Biology II (10-12)
The first trimester of Advanced Biology  (please obtain the book with the blue/red cover, not the white 2^nd edition) starts with a review of concepts learned in Biology I.  We will then explore in depth the histology of tissues, especially of the bones and muscles.  Second Trimester continues with an overview of the skeletal system.  We will then explore in depth the nervous system, both gross and central/peripheral.  Our last unit will be a simple study of the endocrine system. We conclude in the 3^rd trimester with the study of the major internal systems of the body.  We will explore the circulatory, lymphatic, digestive, respiratory and urinary systems in turn. There will be readings from the text, and further study using the Anatomy Coloring Book by Kapit and Elson.   At least two hours of homework will be assigned weekly, and will include experiments and coloring book exercises from the textbook.  Mandatory dissections, microscopy, and module tests will be done in the Lab section of the class.   Grades will be based on laboratory assignments (35%) and module tests (65%).  Biology I is required, or permission of the teacher.  Parents are encouraged to check the Study Guide Questions in preparation for the module tests.  An answer sheet will be given for this purpose.

Biology II Lab (10-12)
The first trimester of Advanced Biology  (please obtain the book with the blue/red cover, not the white 2^nd edition) Laboratory Section will cover Laboratory Safety and microscope use.  Drawings will be made from the microscope work, and dissections performed under supervision. In 2^nd Trimester the Laboratory Section will continue with dissections, especially of the eye, and microscope work. Finally, 3^rd Trimester sees the Laboratory Section concluding with dissections, especially of the heart, and microscope work.  We will also perform a dissection of a fetal pig on the last day.    All module tests will be taken during the lab period.  There will be further study using the Anatomy Coloring Book by Kapit and Elson.  All students taking Biology II must also take the Laboratory Section.
