Modern History I (5-8) – 1st trimester: This is the first of three courses that will provide an introductory survey of the modern world as part of a four-year sequence in world history. This world history survey is designed to prepare students for the high school history and literature classes.
This class, “The Age of Revolutions,” will introduce students to the period, 1789-1870. The student’s primary work will be learning how to use Wikipedia (and other resources) to identify key people, events, and places. The information gathered during the week will be analyzed and discussed in class to show how it all fits together.
The final grade will be based on class participation, weekly assignments, and a final exam.
Modern History II (5-8) – 2nd trimester: This is the second of three courses that will provide an introductory survey of the modern world as part of a four-year sequence in world history. This world history survey is designed to provide students with a solid background for the high school history and literature classes.
This class, “The Modern World,” will introduce students to the period, 1870-1936. The student’s primary work will be learning how to use Wikipedia (and other resources) to identify key people, events, and places. The information gathered during the week will be analyzed and discussed in class to show how it all fits together.
The final grade will be based on class participation, weekly assignments, and a final project.
Modern History III (5-8) – 3rd trimester: This is the third of three courses that will provide an introductory survey of the modern world as part of a four-year sequence in world history. This class, “In Living Memory,” will cover 1936 to the present. The student’s primary work will be learning how to use Wikipedia (and other resources) to identify key people, events, and places. The information gathered during the week will be analyzed and discussed in class to show how it all fits together.
The final grade will be based on class participation, weekly assignments, and a final exam.
