French 1 is designed for the high-school aged student who would like to begin learning French in a friendly and fun environment. Also, high-school aged students who have completed French A may choose this longer class option in lieu of French B (with the understanding that there will be some review). Class consists of two periods (both required) so that students have time to practice speaking and listening to the language in person. Homework is assigned for four days outside of class and includes reading, writing, watching videos and taking a weekly online quiz. Homework is graded for completion and effort, not perfection. Grades are based on weekly homework completion, weekly quizzes, class participation, and one in-class exam per trimester. On exam days, «on fête» – which means we have a party! Prerequisite: entering grades 9-12 or permission of the instructor.
