Spanish 1 / Grades 8-12 / Period 4 and 5 / SD / 1T-2T-3T

Spanish I Class and Lab:   This is a 3-trimester course, the first year of high school Spanish.  The first trimester focuses on cognate vocabulary, proper pronunciation, vocabulary of family, school, everyday activities, the present tense of verbs, and culture. The second trimester focuses on numbers, telling time, days, months, seasons, weather, everyday activities, the present tense of verbs, and culture. The third trimester focuses on vocabulary of house, home, human body, food, school subjects, animals, present tense irregular verbs, and culture.  Listening, reading, writing, and speaking the language will be practiced.  Lab time will consist of review and conversation, while class time will be devoted to vocabulary, grammar and reading. Students will purchase a workbook, Spanish is Fun, Book 1, Lively lessons for Beginners, Fifth Edition
